- Arms should remain at the sides or one hand can be on the hip. Arms should not be raised or spread wide impeding in another competitors space next to you.
- Lats should be open but not overly flared as in Figure.
- Toes should face judges. Competitors can angle toes out slightly to accentuate quad presentation.
- A slight twist is allowed as long as both hips and shoulders are visible from the front.
QUARTER TURN TO THE RIGHT:
- From the front. Competitors execute a 1/4 turn to the right and adjust stance: Upper body turned 35 degrees towards judges, so the rear shoulder can be seen.
- The hips face the side of the stage; you may twist your shoulders towards the judges. Turn your head and look directly at the audience/judges.
- The front foot may be offset. A slight lift of the heal onto the toe is permitted. Long hair should be pushed back behind the shoulder. The rear hand may be placed on the hip or hang freely.
FACE BACK OF STAGE:
- From the side pose, competitors execute a 1/4 turn to the right and face the rear of the stage. Heels can either be together or up to shoulder width apart. Weight can be centered or shifted to either side. Other options for leg positions include legs crossed over and feet in a staggered T position.
- Arm position is optional and can include arms down, or arms placed at top of thighs.
- Lats be open but not over flared to show upper body symmetry

QUARTER TURN TO THE RIGHT:
- Same as first side pose.
FRONT AND BACK STAGE WALK:
This optional walk is called by the head judge, and bikini competitors walk from the front of the stage to the back of the stage as a group. Competitors are asked to execute a back pose at the back of the stage. They transition by turning back around facing the judges and walking to the front of the stage. This walk may be performed multiple times.
T-WALK:
Can be included in prejudging and/or used at Finals.
The Stage Walk or T-Walk – Is the competitor’s opportunity to show grace, poise and confidence. Competitors should execute the T-walk in a tasteful, confident manner. Over exaggerated posing or performance outside bikini division (bodybuilding poses, gymnastic moves, etc) will be scored down.
This stage walk is the same as figure and Men’s Physique, usually executing 3 points on the stage. The stage walk will be conducted in a manner according to the promoters site restrictions, and competitors will execute the T-walk in the pattern designated by the promoter. Competitors who fail to follow the designated walking pattern may be scored down.
SCORING EACH ROUND:
Judges will score each round and give competitors a final placement for that round before the head judge moves to the next round. Example: in a class of 8 competitors, judges will rank competitors 1 to 8 in each round. When the judges have completed scoring for both rounds, they will add the scores together to determine the final placement for each competitor.
FIGURE
Two-piece posing suit must be in good taste; thongs are not allowed. The suit may be adorned with rhinestones, sparkles, sequins, etc. for added effect. High-heeled shoes are required. Jewelry is permitted; body jewelry (piercing) is allowed, so long as it is not offensive. Other jewelry (earrings, necklace, bracelets) may be worn, but should not obscure the physique or be in poor taste.
ROUNDS SCORED
Round 1 – Symmetry
Round 2 – Muscle Tone
ROUND 1 – SYMMETRY
Competitors will perform mandatory quarter turns; judges will compare competitors against each other. Judges will be looking at balance and proportion (e.g., between upper and lower body, and sides). Figures athletes should be symmetrically balanced; upper or lower body should not overpower the other; no one-body part should overpower the rest of the physique.
ROUND 2 – MUSCLE TONE
Competitors must show good muscle tone. Leanness and muscle development is expected; however, competitors should NOT exhibit as much conditioning and muscle mass/size or present an over-conditioned physique as is presented in Bodybuilding or Fit Body.
FACE FRONT
- Heels must be together and in line, without either foot ahead of the other.
- Hips MUST face the judges and arms must remain to the sides (although they shouldn’t touch the sides or be exaggerated spread wide)
- Lats should be open/flared to show a nice V-Taper
- Toes must face the judges, but competitors can angle their toes out Slightly if it helps to accentuate their quad presentation
Side Pose – From the front pose, competitors execute a 1⁄4 turn to the right and adjust stance:
- Upper body turned 35 degrees toward judges so the rear shoulder can be seen, but nothing
- Hips must face side of the stage
- Eyes must face side of the stage
- Toes must face side of the stage with both feet flat. The feet can be offset only half the distance of the foot (front or back foot offset)
- Long hair should be pushed back behind the front shoulder so it doesn’t obscure view
- Front and rear hands should hang freely with palms toward the body
Rear Pose – From the side pose, competitors execute a 1⁄4 turn to the right and face the curtain or rear of the stage
- Both feet must be together or very close
- Toes cannot be spread wide apart
- Feet cannot be offset to any degree (i.e., one in front of the other)
- Competitors should brush their hair to one side so their back can be seen
- Arms must be at the sides with the hands hanging freely- palms toward the body • Lats are spread wide to show upper body symmetry
PRESENTATION & STAGE WALK (TO BE USED AS A TIE-BREAKER, NOT GIVEN A SCORE/RANKING)
- Hair and make-up should complement your figure
- Posing suit and shoes should complement your figure
- Skin tone – tan products/foundation color should complement hair, suits, and enhance overall figure • Overall stage presence – judges will assess competitor’s ability to seamlessly execute quarter turns, present confidence and poise, and change places with other competitors
During the stage walk, judges will consider: The above presentation elements as a whole and how well you walk and present yourself during the mandatory poses. Judges will be looking to see if all the above elements work together as whole to present a total package. Subtotal scores can be positively or negatively affected by the walk, moving a competitor up or down by breaking ties.
SCORING EACH ROUND: Judges will score each round and give competitors a final placement for that round. Example: in a class of 8 competitors, judges will rank competitors 1 to 8 in each round. When the judges have completed scoring for two rounds, they will add the (2) scores together to determine subtotals for each competitor. The stage walk shall break ties.
MEN' S PHYSIQUE
Men’s physique must be in conventional surf shorts. The belt should not slide lower than 7cm below the navel. The legs of the shorts should be adjusted relatively flexibly. The physical criteria sought by the judges are a dry, muscular, balanced and aesthetic body. The judges do not look for the level of muscle mass or extreme dryness as in the Bodybuilding category. It is very important to have a generally well-formed muscle, a slim waist, a V-shaped back and good abs. A global aesthetic appeal is taken into account.
COMPARISONS
The installation will be done in four quarter turns (1/4) on the right. The main judge will guide the competitors throughout this process.
FRONT FACING
Competitors will face the judges. The feet must remain parallel. The hands can be held on the sides or a hand can be placed on a hip. The chest should be in place and the back flared. The lats should not be stretched like a bodybuilder, and the fists not tightly clenched as in the bodybuilding category.
SIDE POSES
Competitors’ hips should face the side of the stage and heads should face the judges. The shoulders can be turned up to 35 degrees towards the judges in order to accentuate their V-Taper. The hands can be held on the sides or one hand on the hip. The feet can be offset and the rear calf tightened.
BACK POSE
Competitors will stand against the public / judges. The feet must remain parallel. The lats must be spread out to display the V-shaped cone. The hands can be held on the sides or a hand can be placed on one hip. The head judge may ask competitors to place one hand on one hip.
INDIVIDUAL WALK ON STAGE
It is carried out during pre-judging so that the judges take into account their presentation and general aspect. If a T-Walk is performed, the counters must execute a side pose facing the middle of the stage when they are on the side of the stage. Once in the middle, the competitors must make a pose from the front followed by a pose from the back and turn to this position before walking to the next outside point.
The poses must not be held more than 3 seconds each, and the individual presentation must be completed in 30 seconds (the chief judge may grant more time depending on the size of the scene).
For large competitions, the competitors will head towards the central point of the stage and will perform a pose from the front, a pose from the side, a pose from the back and will finish with a pose from the front. In a big show format, competitors must finish their presentation in 15 seconds.
Note: No bodybuilding pose should be done by Men’s Physique competitors during the competition.
SCORING
The judges will mark each round and give the contestants one final placement for that round before the head judge advances to the next round. Example: in a class of 8 competitors, the judges will classify the competitors from 1 to 8 each round. Once the judges have finished scoring for the two rounds, they add up the scores to determine the final ranking of each competitor.
FIT BODY
Athletes wear two-piece figure suit; thongs or T-back bottoms are not allowed. The suit may be embellished with rhinestones, sparkles, or sequins for added effect. High-heeled shoes are required. Jewelries and body piercing is allowed, but must not be offensive or obscure the physique.
ROUNDS SCORED
Round 1 – Symmetry
Round 2 – Muscle Tone
ROUND 1: SYMMETRY
• Competitors will perform the mandatory quarter turns; judges will compare competitors against others in the same class. Judges will be looking at balance and proportion (e.g., between upper and lower body). Fit Body competitors should be symmetrically balanced; upper or lower body should not overpower the other; no one-body part should overpower the rest of the physique.
ROUND 2: MUSCLE TONE
• The key is to come in conditioned and not overly muscular, too striated or hard looking. Too much overall muscle mass or appearing to be at the same physical level of a Bodybuilding competitor is not Fit Body. Example: Shoulders/Arms ripped and too vascular. Some separation is required to display the different muscle groups and proper execution of the (5) Mandatory poses is essential. Note: Points will be deducted if you clench your fist while executing the below mandatory poses. Both rounds will be scored equally to come up with the final placement.
EXECUTION – SYMMETRY ROUND
Face Front – Heels together, toes facing forward. Lats spread, arms in semi-relaxed position at sides.
Side Pose – Feet offset slightly (foot of choice either with toes shifted forward by three inches or back by three inches; feet still must be beside one another to some extent). Hips toward the side of the stage, face toward side of the stage. Upper body turned toward the judge no more than 30 degrees.
EXECUTION – MUSCLE TONE
Front Double-Biceps – (open handed) One leg shifted toward the side, both arms up in double biceps pose.
Side Chest (side of choice) – Arm facing the judges is bent at 90 degrees, with the back arm reached across the torso to grasp the bent-arm wrist both hands must be open. One leg should be shifted back to tighten the calf.
Side Triceps (side of choice) – Arm facing the judges should be extended straight down at the side. The rear arm should be bent with that hand on the hip. (The hands are not clutched behind the back.) One leg should be shifted back to tighten the calf.
Rear Double-Biceps (open handed) – One leg shifted toward the side, with the calf tightened. Both arms are lifted up in double-biceps pose. Hands must be in open pose.
Front Abdominal Pose (one or both hands overhead) – One leg must be extended toward the judges. Hands can be positioned either together behind the head, or with one hand behind the head and the opposite one positioned on the hips.
SCORING EACH ROUND:
Judges will score each round and give competitors a final placement for that round before the head judge moves to the next round. Example: in a class of 8 competitors, judges will rank competitors 1 to 8 in each round. When the judges have completed scoring for all two rounds, they will add the (2) scores together to determine the final placement for each competitor.
ROUTINE FOR FIT BODY
Fit Body competitors will perform their mandatory poses individually at the finals/night show. Your time on stage will consist of the 5 mandatory Fit Body poses to music while wearing heels. The order of the (5) poses is up to you and the promoter will provide the background music. The Master of Ceremonies will announce your name at which time you will go directly to the center stage and start your poses. You will execute the (5) mandatory poses one time and then exit the stage.
